A child has rights. We fight for them.

Abused and neglected children need more than the child welfare system can provide. Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) for Children of Atlantic, Cape May, and Camden Counties recruits, trains, and coaches citizen-volunteers who advocate for abused children in the community and in the courtroom. CASA for Children advocates speak on behalf of abused and neglected children who are now living in the foster care system and help facilitate safe, permanent homes for the children as quickly as possible.

A child has the undeniable right to feel safe, loved, to learn, grow and become the person they are destined to be. Unfortunately, many families are in crisis and too often children are not provided these basic rights. Right now, many local children are separated from their families and living in foster care.

The CASA solution

Our solution to this injustice begins with a single volunteer. The volunteer is a Court Appointed Special Advocate – a CASA volunteer. He or she is trained to understand the sensitive circumstances of a child living in foster care. The advocate is trained to listen to the child and all those involved in what can often be very complicated cases. An advocate is trained to report their observations and make recommendations to the family court judge.
